African American Heritage Tour

National Museum of African American History and Culture

Washington, DC

1st Day: We travel to Washington, DC today for an African American Heritage Tour. Upon arrival we begin a narrated tour of the city of Washington DC, with a focus on the black men and women who built the capital city. We will drive to historic African American communities. We also will drive by Howard University, Howard Theater, Ben’s Chili Bowl, Freedmen’s Hospital, Metropolitan AME Church and Council of Negro Women. The tour will include stops at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, African American Civil War Memorial and Museum, Lincoln Memorial, and more. Lodging tonight in the DC area.

2nd Day: This morning we will visit the Smithsonian Institute’s newest museum – the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The museum is a place where all Americans can learn about the richness and diversity of the African American experience, what it means to their lives and how it helped to shape this nation. Departing for home after lunch today, arriving back approximately 10:30 PM. (CB)
